Eisenhower opponent set for Monday

ALTOONA-Bishop McCort defeated Juniata Valley, 4-1, to win its third-consecutive District 6 Championship Wednesday at Altoona’s Blair County Ballpark.

Senior pitcher Brad Coleman tossed a complete game four-hitter for the Crimson Crushers (16-7), who advance to the PIAA Class A State Tournament to play Eisenhower (9-7) Monday at a site and time to be determined.

Dan Formica drove in all four of McCort’s runs.

The first-round game will be hosted by District 10, likely at Slippery Rock’s Jack Critchfield Park or Erie’s Jerry Uht Park.

Warren softball’s opponent is still to be determined, as thunderstorms postponed Tuesday’s WPIAL Class AAA consolation game between Greensburg Salem and Elizabeth Forward. That game is now scheduled to be played Thursday at Hempfield High School.

Warren will play the winner – District 7’s third-place team – on Monday at a site and time to be announced.
