Lois McDanel

Lois Egger Anderson McDanel , 78, of Clarendon, PA, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014 at the UPMC Hamot Hospital, Erie, PA.

Lois was born February 25, l936 in Bruin, Pa. to the late Elmer Werner and Olga Katherine Yaggy Egger. She is Methodist by faith.

Lois lived in the Clarendon area since moving there as a child with her parents in l942. After living in Warren for a few years, she again moved back to the Clarendon area where she spent the rest of her life.

She graduated from the Warren High School when it was still located on Market Street with the class of 1954.

She had many interests. One was traveling with her late husband Norman throughout all of the United States and many places worldwide in 1985 and 1986. One of the best trips was going to Switzerland to visit with some of her relatives. She also enjoyed reading, crocheting, craft shows, doing genealogy, tracing both her and her husband Norman’s families, was interested in raising flowers and shrubs, with roses being her favorite. She also always fed the many birds that came to the outside feeders.

During her working career, she worked at Certified Electric, Division of Eltronics for 14 years. Then moved on to being employed by the United Refining Co. for 17 years, retiring in June 1988 due to disability.

Lois is survived by one brother Donald E. (Sharon) Egger of Riva, Md., a stepdaughter Ellen Sue, (Jack) Gierster, San Diego, Ca., four step grand children, Jeremy L. Thompson and fiance Heidi Crawford of Dubois, Pa. Laura E. (Richard) Trimmer of New Kingston, N.H., Ronald (Lisa) McDanel, Fort Collins, Co., and Jennifer (Dan) Feller, Loveland, Co., ten step great grand children; and two nephews, Sean and Jason Loper, a great nephew, Aiden Loper; and two great nieces Avery and Tenley Loper. Also surviving is a daughter in law, Nancy L. McDanel.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Norman K. McDanel on June 29, 2009 whom she married October 5, 1971 in Mayville, N.Y. She was also preceded in death by her first husband Robert M. Anderson on December 25, 1969 from results of a vehicle accident and whom she was married to on May 18, 1956 at Grace Methodist church in Warren, Pa. Also by two step sons, David P. McDanel and Gerald L. McDanel and a sister Kathryn Egger Loper on Dec. 20, 2013.

Friends will be received at the Peterson Blick Funeral Home on Thursday, May 29, from 1 to 3 p.m at which time a funeral service will be held, with Rev. Marcus Briggs, chaplain, officiating.

Burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, Pa.
