Charles Robert Frantz, 66, 25 Brook St., died peacefully at his residence Saturday, May 17, 2014 in the presence of his loving daughter and son, following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 3, 1947, in Warren to the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Frantz. A graduate of Warren Area High School and West Virginia Wesleyan College, he earned a Master of Business Management degree from Vanderbilt University. Upon graduation from college in 1969, he served four decorated years in the US Air Force and volunteered as a counselor for troubled adolescents.
Mr. Frantz began his civilian career on the mayor’s staff in Nashville, Tennessee. He subsequently moved to Warren and served several years in the banking department of Northwest Savings Bank. He ultimately acquired the family business, Warren County Insurance Agency, where he worked until his death. Mr. Frantz served several successive terms on the boards of the Boy Scouts of American, Oakland Cemetery, First United Methodist Church, Warren County Chamber of Commerce, and was a long time patron and ring master of the Warren County Fair horse show. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church, serving on several committees as well as ushering. He was also a member of the Conewango Club, the Conewango Valley Country Club, Odd Fellows, American Legion, and Warren Elks Club.
Mr. Frantz is survived by his daughter Cameron of State College, PA, his son Charles and grandson Charles Owen of Cambridge, MA; his brother David of St. Michaels, MD; as well as two nephews, Carter Frantz of Harrisburg, PA and LT Ryan Frantz USN of China Lake, CA.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, 200 Market Street, Warren, with Reverend Swart officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. There will be no visitation observed. Memorial donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America or First United Methodist Church. The Peterson-Blick Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
