Meeting on river landing proposal set Thursday
The committee to build a dock system at The River Landing at Warren will host a public meeting in the Slater Room of the Warren Public Library on Thursday, May 22, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Todd Bowersox, committee member said that residents are invited to attend, review plans, share ideas and brainstorm both the product and possible funding sources.
In addition to Bowersox, Mary Hagan-Double, Michelle Williams, Steve Sigmund and William “Buzzy” Bussoletti make up the committee. They traveled to Kittanning earlier this year to examine a similar, although larger, project that has already been completed and is in use.
Williams and Hagan-Double have been working on gathering information and putting a presentation together.
During an earlier meeting, Bussoletti spoke of the thousands of people who pass through Warren on the Allegheny River each year.
“The plan is to give those folks the opportunity to ‘stop and dock,” and access downtown Warren,” he said. “The River Landing at Warren is fast gaining momentum. Really, it’s a no brainer. We have a beautiful river that flows right through downtown Warren. Now is the time to give an untold number of people the opportunity to designate Warren as a must-see area.”
