Eisenhower, Youngsville fall in season finales

The Lady Knights’ softball season ended at the hands of Iroquois, 10-0, Friday at Eisenhower High School.

“We’re starting to see girls get more of a feel for what’s going on,” said Ike coach R.J. Williams. “They were obviously more experienced than we were. I don’t think we had a girl get to third, and we had six hits at the top of the order.”

Kristen Wagner, Mallory Trumbull, and Haylie Birt each had two hits in the one, two, and three spots for the Lady Knights. Jocelyn Courtney and Mallory Schutt added one hit each.

Eisenhower’s season wraps up with an overall record of 1-11.

FRANKLIN 5, YOUNGSVILLE 3

Even with a 5-3 loss to Franklin, the Lady Eagles ended their season in the win column.

Last Friday’s non-region game against Sheffield – which was suspended due to weather in the fifth inning with Youngsville leading 2-1 – was made official, giving the Eagles an overall record of 5-11 to end the year.

The final game on the field didn’t end in Youngsville’s favor, with Franklin posting a three-run third and two more in the fourth.

“We played much better late in the season than we did early on,” said Youngsville coach Ron Jameson. “Iroquois, Titusville, Rocky Grove, Franklin; we played them all tough the second time around.”

Kennedy Cratty, Katie Gustafson, Julia Sveda, Judi Lewis, and Kelsey Anderson each had one hit for the Lady Eagles.

Youngsville picked up a win in the junior varsity game, 7-5.
