James Robert Kilby, 84, died Sunday, April 27, 2014, at the Masonic Home of Florida, 3201 1st Street N., St. Petersburg, Fla.
He was born in Washington D.C. and grew up in the Arlington, Va., area.
He recently moved to St. Petersburg from Dunnellon, Fla.
He was a graduate of VPI, Virginia Tech of Blacksburg, Va. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and after he retired to Florida he discovered he was, as he would say, “a world famous woodcarver.”
Jim taught many classes and people the art of woodcarving.
Jim served his country in the Marine Corps and was Past Master of Friendship Lodge 53 F&AM in Friendship, Fla.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Winifred (Winnie Park) Kilby, his son, Dan Kilby of Leesburg, Fla, a daughter Pam Boney of Beaufort, N.C., a granddaughter Amber and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held in the chapel at the Masonic home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to charity of choice in memory of Jim.
