Hole-in-one

Stephen Hoyt had a hole-in-one at Cable Hollow Golf Course on Tuesday, April 29, on hole five with a six-iron. It was witnessed by Eric Fisher, Dan Brown and Mark O’Neil.

Conewango Valley Country Club member Larry Vicini recorded his second career hole-in-one on Wednesday, three weeks after recording his first career hole-in-one in Florida. His second ace came on the seventh hole at CVCC, measuring 170 yards and using a 6-iron. Witnesses were his wife, Debbie, and his son, Chad.

Golf results

Fuzzy Merenick had the low gross (35) and Jim McCollough the low net (30) in this week’s Warren County Industrial Golf League at Blueberry Golf Course.

Terry Jackson shot a nine-hole 44 to lead the Youngsville Area Senior Golf League at Maplehurst Country Club on Tuesday morning. Jackson also had the low net of 37 and recorded two birdies. Other birdies were posted by Ray Adams, Frank Suppa, Neil Himber, and Don Hook.

The team of Joe Nelson and Charlie Irvin shot a 32 to lead the Peterson-Blick Scratch League at Blueberry Hill. Coming in second with a score of 36 was the team of Ryan Nuhfer and Ralph Clark.

Sharon Birtcil’s 44 was the low gross, and Sue Shields had the low net with 30, in the Blueberry Ladies League. Here are the flight-by-flight leaders:

College news

Warren Area High School graduate Hank Morrison and his Mercyhurst University Division II baseball team (29-13) are hoping for an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament. Morrison has a .318 batting average (35-for-110), with three homers and 33 RBI in 41 games played as first baseman.

Big 30

Sheffield’s Calvin Sutton is the latest Warren County player to be named to the Don Raabe Big 30 Senior Classic. Sutton – an offensive guard and defensive tackle – was part of the Wolverine team that won the first AML North title in school history.

Gymnastics

Katie Madigan, Emily See, and Kyleigh Wilson represented Warren YMCA Powerhouse Gymnastics at the Level 6 State Championship May 3 in Pheonixville, Pa. Madigan took home an individual first-place in floor, and Warren finished third in the team standings. Results are listed below:
