Dragons make it nine in a row, Eagles and Knights suffer Region 4 losses
GIRARD-With the District 10 playoffs set to begin in two weeks, Warren continued on the winning track with a 4-1 Region 7 victory over Girard on Monday.
The Dragons have now won nine consecutive games and sit at 11-3 overall and 7-1 in Region 7.
“We didn’t hit very well, but we played well enough to win,” said Warren coach Rick Eaton. “I don’t know if we were looking forward to Harbor Creek or what it was…we weren’t very good at the plate. (Tanner) Teconchuk pitched well and we made some nice defensive plays behind him.”
Teconchuk struck out four and walked none in seven innings to earn the win on the mound. Girard’s only run came in the fifth inning, and was unearned.
Warren pushed one run across on a wild pitch in the fourth and took advantage of a pair of Yellow Jacket errors in the fifth to score another.
Teconchuk helped his cause with an RBI single in the sixth, and Matt Hultquist doubled home Tanner Stanz in the seventh for a little insurance.
The Dragons are slated to face Harbor Creek (12-2, 6-1) in a battle of the top teams in Region 7 on Wednesday. The Huskies are a half game back on Warren in the region standings with the Dragons holding a win in the first meeting between the two teams on April 16.
John White tossed a complete game one-hitter with 10 strikeouts for Warren in a 12-0 junior varsity win.

TITUSVILLE 10, YOUNGSVILLE 5
Defensive lapses and late-awakening bats doomed the Youngsville baseball team in a 10-5 Region 4 match-up Monday at Davis Street Field.
Titusville scored the first ten runs of the game, due in-part to five Eagle errors. The Rockets scored multiple runs in the first, third, and seventh innings to build a double-digit lead.
Youngsville’s bats finally came alive in the bottom of the seventh inning. Chris Johnson reached on an error to start the inning, and Levi Hendrickson followed him with a single. After Jake Marino walked to load the bases, Aaron Hoover laced an RBI single to right, scoring Johnson and Hendrickson. James Frazier then drove Marino home when he reached on an error, and Bryce Sherrard followed with a single. Tyler Lehman then drilled a two-run single to left, scoring Hoover and Frazier and chasing Titusville starting pitcher Ethan Ripper from the game. The Rockets then turned to sophomore J.J. Bleday, who entered the game and recorded the final three outs.
“We had a lot of errors at the beginning of the game that really hurt us,” said Youngsville head coach Wayne Marino. “Those are really tough to overcome. Our bats did come alive at the end of the game, but that kind of difference is really tough to overcome.”
Marino, Sherrard, and Hendrickson each had two hits for the Eagles, who fall to 3-7 overall and 3-3 in Region 4. Hoover and Lehman both lead the team with two runs batted in.
Bleday- a Vanderbilt University recruit – had a monster offensive game for the Rockets. He had four hits, including a three run homer to center in the 7th inning, scored three runs, drove in five runs, and stole three bases. Ripper also added a homer for the Rockets.
The Eagles return to action on Wednesday when they host Region 4-foe Franklin at Davis Street Field.

FRANKLIN 8, EISENHOWER 1
FRANKLIN-Mental errors were a key factor in Eisenhower’s 8-1 loss to region-leading Franklin on Monday.
“I told them if you cut those mental errors out it’s a different game,” said Knights’ coach Cody Vincent. “You can’t afford to have those when you’re down seven. It really puts you behind the eight ball, especially to those guys.”
Jake Harvey drove in Eisenhower’s only run in the top of the second. Harvey, Shane Arford, and Tab Berkhous accounted for all three of the Knights’ hits.
Ike returns to action on Wednesday, hosting Iroquois at Werner Park.
