Lady Dragons sweep East

Alexa Bupp tossed a three-inning perfect game in a 17-0 Warren win over Erie East in the first of two Region 7 contests, and Meghan Loutzenhiser took over duties in the circle for a 16-0 win to complete a doubleheader sweep of the Warriors Friday at Hawbaker Field.

The Lady Dragons scored all 17 runs in the first inning of game one with Loutzenhiser going 3-for-3 with 3 runs batted in to lead the way offensively. Megan Wortman was 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles, and Brittany Massa went 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

Bupp was dominant again, striking out seven of the nine East batters she faced.

Loutzenhiser allowed one hit, struck out five, and walked none in the game two win.

Kaitlin Ishman drove in four runs as part of a 3-for-3 day while Loutzenhiser, Kennedy Walter, Alexa Bupp, and Paige Wilson were all 2-for-3.

With the wins, Warren improves to 11-1 overall and 8-1 in Region 7.

“It was a day where we came into it just trying to do our job,” said Warren coach Mark Bupp, who noted that East shortstop Jasmyn Holmes made several nice defensive plays. “I’m proud of the way we hit the ball; we put it in play and made them make plays defensively, and obviously both pitchers threw well.”

The Lady Dragons are at Strong Vincent on Tuesday.
