The Sheffield 500 Club met at the home of Nancy Latimer for an evening of laughter, cards and good food. The High Score went to Carol Jandrew, with Gloria Werner taking 2nd and Mary Rose Farr taking 3rd prize and Marsha Farnsworth received a price for a trick with a four.
The Clarendon VFD will be having a Mothers Day Chicken BBQ on Sunday, May 11, from noon until the dinners are gone. The cost is $8.00 for a full dinner or $5 for a half a chicken. Call 723-4951 to reserve your chicken dinners or just a half a chicken.
Ruth M. Smith Center
The Ruth M. Smith Center is wishing to thank the individuals and groups who have donated daffodils, food and other contributions that have been dropped off at the Center. Your support of this non-profit organization is greatly appreciated.
The menu for the week will be: Monday, hamburg gravy on mashed potatoes, vegetable, homemade rolls and apple cobbler for dessert. Thursday, stuffed cabbage rolls, salad and ‘Dirt’ cake. Friday’s buffet features baked fish among other tempting sides and fruit to top it off. Highlights for the week include blood sugar testing on Monday from 8:30 to 11:30 with Esther and Jean, walk-ins are welcome. Agnes will be there at 11 a.m., her topic will be ‘Things to and not to eat if you are diabetic, plus some suggestions and tips for your menu. Tuesday, the Kitchen Band will be playing at the Rouse home in Youngsville. If you would like to join in this fun volunteer activity call 968-5667.
There will be special treats for ‘Moms & Grandmothers & Great-grandmothers’ The Warren Community Foundation will donate a percentage to our total of ‘Warren Gives’ on May 14, 8 am-8 pm you must go online to donate, but the center will make it easy for you if you do not have a computer, if you would just drop off your donation at the center for the Sheffield Hospitality Center staff will make your donation on-line for you. As you know the center not only is a place to be 3 days a week for great home cooked meals, cards, pool games, educational information, etc. but with fund-raising activities it helps the many organizations within the community.
The date is reserved for the ‘Farmers Market Vouchers’ Monday, June 2, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the center. Income guidelines are: single $21,590 couple $29101. Can’t be here? You must fill out a proxy form, stop in to get one. ID is required.
The Center will be open for ‘Sheffield Days’ June 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Drop off your donations or call and staff will pick up for you. If you would like to reserve your own table for $5, call the center. Otherwise shop for the best treasures at the ‘Oldies & Goodies’ Sale.
There will be vegetable plants for sale from RSVP greenhouse volunteer program, Robbie will be selling pepper plants and a variety of tomato plants on May 15 from 9 a.m. to noon.
