Cemetery meeting

The Wrightsville Cemetery Association will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Wrightsville Fire Hall. All lot owners are urged to attend.

Win at bridge

Winners in Monday evening duplicate bridge play at the YMCA were Magda Fanaritis and Doug Megill, first with 11.5, and Joann Hultquist and Connie Michell, second with 8.

Ladies Tea set

A Ladies Tea will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at the Warren County Christian School. Reservations are helpful but not required; call 563-4457. Music will be provided by the school’s choral ensemble, Monica Kerr and a string trio with Khlare Bracken. Speaker will be author Lisa Jordan. A gift basket auction also will be held.

Spaghetti served

A spaghetti dinner benefit for Julian Gillenwater, People to People Student Ambassador, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, May3, at Tionesta Church of God, Rt. 36, Tionesta. The menu will include salad, bread, cake and beverages. A silent auction also will be held. Cost will be $7 for adults, $4 for children age 4 to 12, and free for children younger than 4. Take-outs will be available.

AOC on the move

On Sunday, May 4, the Allegheny Outdoor Club (AOC) will kayak/canoe the Clarion River. This will be a six-mile float that will begin at the put-in three miles upstream from the Rt. 36 Bridge in Cooksburg and end at the take-out at Gravel Lick Road. Participants will meet at Howe’s True Value at 12:30 p.m. or at the Cooksburg put-in at 1:30 p.m. Your boat will need a registration or launch permit, and PFDs. On Wednesday, May 7, the AOC will ride bikes in the Frewsburg area. Participants will meet at the Jamestown Audubon Center on Riverside Road in Jamestown at 5:30 p.m. For more information, call Pat Spicer at 757-8331.

On Friday, May 9, the AOC will kayak/canoe Tionesta Creek from Sheffield to Blue Jay Bridge for a distance of 8.5 miles. Participants will meet at the boat launch in Sheffield at 11 a.m. Your boat will need a registration or launch permit, and PFDs. For more information, call Dennis Anderson at (716) 969-9772.

Polka Sunday

The Slovenian Polka Boosters will dance from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at the Ridgway Eagles Club. Culkar &Peters of Cleveland, Ohio, will provide music for all types of dancing. The public is invited. For information, call Paul Leofsky at 563-7516.

Art league to meet

Warren Art League will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1, in the sanctuary of First Lutheran Church, Warren. Guest speaker will be Patricia Briggs PhD, director and curator of the Weeks Gallery at Jamestown Community College, Jamestown, N.Y. Please note the change of venue.
