Jr. high track

Several Lady Knights stood out at Saturday’s 14-school Johnsonburg Junior High Track and Field Invitational, including: TerryLee Talasky, who was second out of 46 girls in the 100-meter dash in 13.41 seconds. The eighth-grader won the event last year. She was also third in the 200 out of 36 in 27.92 seconds.

Delaney Mizzi was third in the 300 hurdles in 53.16 seconds, and sixth in the 100 hurdles in 19.64 seconds.

Talasky, Mizzi, Cameran Edwards and Aniela Gesing teamed to finish third in the 400 relay in 57.56, and Mizzi, Gesing, Talasky and Anna McJunkin finished fifth in the 1,600 relay in 5:03.26.

Warren Area High School graduate Katie Spade finished first in the 400-meter run in 59.28 seconds for Division III Penn State Behrend at the 2014 Penn State Behrend Invitational to qualify for the ECAC’s.

Youth soccer

The Flatt Kinzua U12 boys soccer team defeated Mount Lebanon soccer Club, 2-1, on Sunday in Pittsburgh. Caleb Lindell and Damon Navaroli each had a goal. A.J. Seyler and Tyler Gustafson each had an assist. The Kinzua team received effective ballhandling from Devon Navaroli, Ryan Flatt, Ethan Massa and Gustafson. Tyler Howard and Darren Glotz were credited with solid offensive performances. Mitchell Grosch played well on defense, along with Luke Smelko and John Page, to minimize scoring opportunities. Thomas Bablak recorded multiple saves in goal.
