Jean L. Davis, 88, of Wesleyville, died peacefully at 2:56 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Homestead Hearth Personal Care Home in Centerville following a period of declining health. Mrs. Davis formerly lived in Grand Valley, Chapmanville and Titusville.
She was born September 6, 1925 in Grand Valley a daughter of the late Bert G. Chappel and LeEll Mays Chappel. She graduated from Youngsville High school in 1943.
Jean married James P. Davis March 2, 1945 in Grand Valley. Mr. Davis died March 17, 1999.
Mrs. Davis formerly worked as a nurse’s aide at Titusville Presbyterian Home during the 1970’s.
She enjoyed flowers, gardening, puzzle books especially word search puzzles.
Mrs. Davis is survived by four children, Martha Jane Mack and her husband Dale of Meadville, Bruce J. Davis of Wesleyville, Glenn A. Davis and his wife Becky of Arvada, Colorado and Sharon Moraga and her husband Oscar of Erie; nine grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; a sister Helen Clark of Warren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Phyllis J. Davis; three sisters Joan Davis, Marilyn Hollabaugh and Yvonne Bower; and six brothers, Robert, Reid, Dale, Vance, Jon and Jan Chappel.
Relatives and friends of Mrs. Davis will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grand Valley United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ralph Culp, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Maultby Cemetery, Grand Valley.
At Jean’s request, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
