Varsity slate

Here is the varsity slate of action for county teams for Saturday, April 26:

SATURDAY’S SCHEDULE

Baseball: North East at Youngsville, 11 a.m.

Meadville at Warren, noon

Softball: Fairview at Warren, 11 a.m.

Track: McDowell Invitational, 9 a.m.

Horseshoes

The Warren County Horseshoe League will hold a workbee at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 28, and Monday, May 5, at the fairgrounds. All pitchers and anyone interested in joining the league are asked to help. League play will begin on Monday, May 12.

Chautauqua Trap

The Chautauqua County Trap League started off its season Thursday night with Celoron edging Randolph, 343-342, and Carroll beating Busti, 334-328. Perfect 50’s were shot by high vet Bob Faga and Rob Becker (Celoron) and Kim Milford (Randolph).

Tracie Carlson (Randolph) was high lady at 47×50, high sub-junior Dalton Becker (Celoron) at 48, high juniors Ben Paddock (Busti) and Andrew Hvizdzak (Randolph) at 47 each, high senior vet Gary Sickles (Randolph) 48, and high super senior vet Howard Arnold (Randolph) at 49.

Postponed

The Warren at Fort LeBoeuf baseball game scheduled for Friday was postponed. It will be made up at 4 p.m. Tuesday, with junior varsity to follow.

The East at Warren softball doubleheader postponed on Friday will be made up at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Farm Colony Complex.

The Warren at Titusville boys tennis match postponed on Friday will be made up at 3 p.m. Saturday in Titusville.

The Sheffield at Brockway softball game postponed on April 16 is now 3 p.m. Thursday, May 8.

The Sheffield at East Forest game postponed May 13 has been canceled.

Schedule change

Youngsville softball will travel to Union City for a 4 p.m. game on Monday, with junior varsity to follow.

College news

Youngsville High School graduate Abel Robinault recorded an NCAA Championships provisional-qualifying time for California University of Pa. in the 5,000-meter run Thursday at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia.

Robinault finished in third place while running in the college flight of the 5,000 meters on Thursday night. He shattered his personal record in the event by nearly 20 seconds after posting a time of 14:28.60. Robinault now holds the third-best time in the PSAC this spring.
