Lady Knights slug out first win at Sheffield
The Eisenhower Lady Knights’ bats woke up in a big way for their first win of the season, 21-1 over Sheffield in a district-crossover game Friday afternoon.
Ike led 11-1 after four innings and tacked on 10 more in the fifth to put the mercy-rule in effect.
“We gained a ton of confidence in the last three innings of our game against Iroquois,” said Eisenhower coach R.J. Williams. “This was our third game this week after playing once a week (to start the season). They’re starting to get some reps in, and you can see it in the way they played today.”
Ashley Barnett was a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs scored to lead the Lady Knights at the plate. Kristen Wagner was 4-for-5, Haylie Birt was 3-for-4 with three RBI, Dakota Williams was 2-for-3 with three RBI, and Kellie Coons was 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Freshman Emily Grove went 2-for-3 for Sheffield.
Jocelyn Courtney threw all five innings to earn the win for Eisenhower.
The Lady Knights (1-5) host Titusville on Tuesday and Sheffield (2-5) travels to Johnsonburg on Monday.
