YMCA celebrating healthy kids on Friday
The Warren County YMCA, Lexington Ave., will celebrate health and fitness for everyone at “Happy Healthy Kids Day” in Warren County. Several free activities are planned for children and families from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, April 25.
Several area schools will bus youths to the Y for these events on Friday, but you do not need to be with a school to participate. Bring the toddlers for the experience as well and start them on a journey of being a health seeker. Activities in morning hours will be Games on the Farm with the Y childcare staff (camp sign ups will be available this day as well). Bob Evans will hand out healthy snacks; and All Star Cheer team will be showing youth how to hoo- la -hoop and do a few cheers and jumps. Kimio Nelson of Fighting Tiger Martial Arts will be offering martial arts activities. There will be face painting by Jennifer Goerlich from the YMCA ARK program. The ARK program also will have an art show on display. Local Heroes from our city police department will be on hand to meet and greet youths as well as the Warren City Fire Truck. Warren General Hospital will have an activity as well as the Powerhouse Gym Team Trampoline fun. The Warren Public Library will offer story time. Train rides will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting. The Y Childcare department is holding a book fair during the event to help raise funds for childcare equipment. There will be Rock wall climbing available all as well as hand drumming with Rich Schuler from Jamestown, N.Y. The after school kids will get to experience two additional events: a John Beard Magic Show and the Bubble Gum DJ. There will be something for everyone, and it is free for all.
