Angelita Benedict

Angelita “Angie” Benedict, 79 of Plumer, PA passed away at 3:30 A.M. on April 22, 2014 at UPMC N/W Hospital in Seneca after an extended illness.

She was born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico on May 11, 1934, the daughter of Leonides Rodriguez and his wife Margara Torres de Rodriguez. Her family moved to Jamestown, NY in 1951.

She is survived by her husband Lee, whom she married July 28, 1956 and their four sons, Hugh, his wife Margaret and their sons Ethan and Alec, all of Hellam, PA; Michael, his wife Lori and their children Charles and Lynne all of Brookeville, MD; Scott and his wife Madeline and their children Jack, Colin and Nicholas, all of Severna Park, MD; and Gregory and his wife Carolyn and their children Emma, Matthew and Kathryn all of Hillsborough, NC, a sister Margarita Gowan of Dunkirk, NY. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death , in addition to her parents were three brothers, Nicholas, Enrique and William and one sister Dalia.

Angelita enjoyed gardening, especially gladiolas. She was an avid long distance runner until age 60, running many local 5k and 10k races and winning many of them in her age group. She was an avid sports fan, watching ball games and sporting events whenever and wherever her sons were playing. She was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates.

She was a homemaker as well as managing her own cleaning business, cleaning offices and homes in Oil City. She was a volunteer for several local charitable organizations. She was a devoted Catholic and active member of St. Venantius Church in Rouseville, PA for 50 years.

The Reinsel Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Visiting hours will be from 4:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M. Friday in the Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Sat. at St. Venantius Church in Rouseville. Burial will be in the Garland Methodist Cemetery, Garland,PA. A luncheon will follow at 12:30 P.M. at Garland Fire Hall.
