Melvin Roy Custer, 55, Passed away April 13, 2014 in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. He was known by his friends as Roy. Roy was born on October 20, 1958 in Punxsutawney, Pa. to Melvin T. Custer (deceased) and Kathleen L. Dunmire of Punxsutawney, Pa.
Roy was a 1976 graduate of Eisenhower High School. He attended Indiana University of Pa. and Kentucky Wesleyan College I Owensboro, Kentucky.
Roy enlisted in the Army in 1979 where he remained until his early retirement in 1996 due to a disability. He spent time in Germany and Saudi Arabia, finishing up his career as a Senior Counter Intelligence Agent. Roy was multilingual in Arabic/Egyptian, German, French and Spanish.
Due to his dislike of cold weather he moved to Florida, then after a vacation in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco decided to live there.
Besides his mother he is survived by three sisters, Linda Phillips of Russell, Kathy (William) Bubash of Corry and Tracy Martin of Youngsville.
Final arrangements were taken care of in Puerto Vallarta where he was cremated and ashes spread according to his wishes. Any memorials can be made to any Disabled Veterans’ Association in his name.
