WCSD Schedule

The Warren County School District will be on Spring Break on Thursday, April 17, Friday, April 18th and Monday, April 21st. Classes will resume on Tuesday, April 22.

Journey to the Cross

The Sugar Grove United Methodist Church will once again hold a Good Friday Experience “Journey of the Cross” in the SGUM Education building (located in Sugar Grove on the point). Take a self guided, reflective “Journey” through the final days & hours of Jesus’ life. There are 11 stations, offering moving reminders of his great sacrifice made for us. You may go at your own pace and spend as much time as you wish in the various areas. The event is open for anyone to begin anytime between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

SGVFD Easter Egg Hunt

The Sugar Grove VFD Auxiliary is hosting an Easter egg hunt at the firehall on Saturday, April 19, at 1 p.m. There will be a girl and a boy bike raffle for $1 per chance. Raffle tickets will be sold starting at 12:30 p.m. and the drawing will follow the egg hunt. All children are welcome up to age 12.

Still Waiting Concert

The Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church will present “Still Waiting” in concert on Good Friday, April 18, at 7 p.m. Admission is free. Concert will take place in the SGFM Gym. The teen group from SGFM “The Gathering” will be opening for the first time.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Sugar Grove American Legion Post #758 will host an Easter Egg Hunt beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday April 19th at the post home. Children ages 12 and younger are invited to attend this special day.

We Are Bookin

The Sugar Grove Free Library will once again hold their 5K and 1 Mile Run/Walk on April 26. All Proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Library. Race time will begin at 10 a.m. on race day and registration will begins at 9 a.m. at the Library on Harmon Street. All ages are welcome to participate in the event. The race start and finish line will be located on the corner of the Library on School Street.

For the race route, you can contact the Library or stop in. The cost to participate in the 5K is $15 if you register on or before April 18. After April 18 the cost to register will be $20. The cost to participate in the 1 mile fun walk is $10 if you register on or before April 18. After April 18th the cost to register will be $15.

Registration 2014-15

Registration is now open at the Imaginative Preschool of the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church for the 2014-15 school year. The preschool has been in operation for more than 25 years and is a wonderful way to start off any child’s education. Mother’s Day Flowers

The Sugar Grove Fire Department will hold a special sale of flowers for Mother’s Day. Arrangements are $30 and will vary in types and colors. There are also 7-inch flowering plants available for $20. Orders must be received by May 3. May 10 will be order pickup day or delivery will be available inside the Sugar Grove Borough. Delivery is available to Warren, Jamestown, and Corry. Book Club

The Sugar Grove Library Book Club will hold their April meeting on Monday, the 28th. Debbie Penley will lead us in the study of People of the Book by Pulitzer Prize-winner Geraldine Brooks. This novel follows a “rare manuscript through centuries of exile and war” and is inspired by a true story. Pick up a copy and start reading, then plan to join Book Club.

Flea Market

The Chandlers Valley Community Center, a nonprofit organization, at 6250 Jackson Run Road will have a Flea Market every third Saturday of the month beginning May 17 through Sept. 20 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. At this time, there are openings for vendors. A 10 by 10 space will be $10 and a 20 by 20 space will be $15. Vendors will be seen clearly from traffic traveling both directions on Jackson Run Road. Vendors will be set up in the Chandlers Valley ballfield. If you are interested in becoming a vendor or you would like more information on the event, you can contact Marlene Falconer at 489-3760.

Sportsmen’s Challenge

The Chandlers Valley Community Center is looking for vendors for the upcoming fall Sportsmen’s Challenge. The challenge will take place on August 23rd from 10 a.m. 3 p.m. This event will include the people pull, judged pie baking contest, pie auction, judged photo contest, children’s games and events, a Chinese auction, the popular lawn mower obstacle course, corn hole tournament, sportsmen’s challenge, pre-1965 farm tractor cruise in, craft vendors, food vendors, flea market, and more.

EMHS Library

EMHS students recently created a video promoting the school library and submitted it as a part of the Follett Challenge competition. The EMHS video earned a spot in the top ten “People’s Choice” and, as a result, has won $5,000 for the school library.

Legion Baseball

The American Legion Post #758 is signing up players for its baseball team, ages 14 and up. The team has a long-standing history in the area and a great following of fans.
