March calendar winner

The Allegheny Center for the Arts would like to congratulate winners for the March page for the ACA/WCCBI, “Warren County Wonders” calendar contest. Kathe Frank won first place for her photo, “Sweet Things on the Way.” Bill Simbeck placed second place for “Pair of Nesting Bald Eagles,” and Mark Evans won third place with “Skunk Cabbage, a Harbinger of Spring.” There is still time to send photos for the April page. Red Hats to dine

The Purple Majesties of the Red Hat Society will have dinner at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Christie’s Downtown Pub & Grill, Pennsylvania Ave. W., Warren.

Class to lunch

Warren High School Class of 1944 will have lunch Thursday, April 17, at the Eagles Club, Pennsylvania Ave. E., Warren, with a get-together at 11:30 a.m. and lunch at noon. Spouses and significant others are welcome.

Gardeners to meet

Warren Garden Club membership will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center. Sandra McIntyre, program chairperson, will demonstrate the construction of a “Fairy Garden.” The recipe for making “graffiti moss” will be shared. Anyone interested in joining the Warren Garden Club is invited to call Donna Fire at 723-5166.

Allegheny 100 Hiking Challenge

The annual Allegheny 100 Hiking Challenge will be held June 13-15 this year. A-100 challenges hikers to traverse 100, 75, 50 or 25 miles in 50 hours. This challenge is for anyone, regardless of skill level, who wants to test themselves against the trail. Those who pre-register will receive a membership in the NCTA, shuttle service and a T-shirt.
