Dual Enrollment Program at SAMSHS
Parents of juniors and seniors at Sheffield Area Middle Senior High School are encouraged to attend an informative meeting at SAMSHS on Wednesday, April 30 at 7 p.m. in Room C116 about the dual enrollment program being offered through St. Bonaventure University.

Construction of both the Henry’s Mills Bridge and the 666 Bridge was the topic of discussion at the township meeting on Monday, April 7. Henry’s Mills Bridge will begin construction in early May, at which time the road will be closed and a detour be set up around Utah Road. The construction of the Route 666 Bridge will begin in late summer and fall. During the first phase of the Route 666 bridge superstructure replacement single-lane traffic controls will be maintained. During Phase 2 of construction Utah Road will be closed at the intersection State Route 666 and detoured around two miles using Henry’s Mill Road, which at this time will be open and the Henry’s Mills Bridge will be complete.
The township approved Dewey Leonard as the field inspector for the Henry’s Mills Bridge as well.
The police officer reported that during March he investigated 7 accidents, 7 theft complaints, 5 reports of suspicious persons, 3 disturbance calls, 3 harassment complaints, 2 requests to assist other agencies, 5 requests to check welfare of others, 5 mental health calls, 2 assaults, 2 ATV complaints, 3 traffic complaints, 1 domestic, 3 reports of suspicious vehicles, 2 disorderly conducts, 4 complaints of traffic hazards and 2 child custody complaints.
Roger Dunham met with the Warren Fence Co. to discuss a quote to fix some problems at the Sports Complex with the fence. The bad weather this past winter has caused some issues with the fence and they will be getting fixed. Also the water pressure was not working properly and ICM has fixed these problems, which were due to the extreme cold temperatures as well.
There is a large hole in the ground where the guiderails were placed on Center Street Bridge. The road crew stated that this is from the placement of the guiderail which went through the drain pipe. Pictures were sent to the engineering firm and forwarded onto the contractor who will be fixing this problem.
Warren County Association of Township Officials will be holding its Spring Convention at the Jackson Valley Country Club on May 17 at 6 p.m.
Johnson Well Service and Missing Moon Oil Inc will be drilling Mead Township and MSL Oil and Gas will be drilling Wetmore Township.
Spring Clean up was approved for Saturday, June 14 at the Sheffield Area Middle Senior High School back parking lot from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Supervisor Labesky along with Roadmaster Clyde Yonkie met with Greg Kolenda from Warren County Conservation District to discuss the possibilities of Henry’s Mills Road being considered for the Dirt and Gravel Road Grant through the conservation district. It was suggested that the three miles of dirt and gravel road be done in three phases to maximum the grant monies. Also considered will be 4-mile road for stabilizing of the stream bank in this area. Grant applications are due to the district office by May 1.
During a DEP investigation conducted on March 19, it has been determined that Tony Scuteri is in violation of the Consent Decree dated Nov. 24, 2009. He has received a certified letter from DEP. He is suggested to review the circumstances that resulted in the non-compliance with the 2009 Consent Decree and the approved cleanup plan and implement procedures to remedy the situation. Each day the violation continues constitutes a separate offense.
Renewals for Group Life/AD & D, Short Term Disability (Weekly Indemnity) and Dental Plans are remaining at the current levels. There is no increase in costs through April 30, 2015.
Bob Enos of 4472 Route 6 has obtained a building permit for a garage the total square footage is 864 feet and the City of Warren reported that two electrical upgrades were inspected in Sheffield Township for Ryan Chapman and Albert McLaughlin.
The Warren County Visitor’s Bureau is having a Event Planning Session on Thursday, April 17 at 6 p.m. at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Warren.
The treasurer stated that the 2013 audit was complete and filed on March 31, 2014.
The menu for the week will be: Monday, beef and noodles, vegetable, rolls with gingerbread for dessert. Thursday, taco salad and Jell-o for dessert. Closed for Good Friday, Happy Easter to All.
The highlights for the week will be: Monday we will have our drawing for the Easter Basket at lunch, there is still time to get your name in this raffle that consists of canned goods, candy, decorations, $85 in gift cards, and a $50 bill. Tickets are 3/$1.

Our ‘Volunteer of the Month’ of April is Esther Ingram who does blood sugar testing the first Monday of each month from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Esther volunteers her time and more, stop in and congratulate her for jobs well done. Esther also started out helping Kelly in the kitchen on Thursdays we are looking for her return after recuperating from a fall. Sign up for the first ‘Mystery lunch’ of spring for Tuesday, the bus will begin to pick up at 11a.m. for a lunch somewhere in Warren County then a stop for ice cream treat before returning home. We still offer ‘exercise’ on Mondays and Thursdays from 3 to 4 p.m., this is a free program and we follow DVDs such as Leslie Sansone, Petra from George’s Gym, Zumba and many more to choose from.
TRIPS: We are sorry to say but due to lack of response we had to cancel the Lancaster trip for the presentation of ‘Moses’ we will try again next year maybe.
New Orleans- Oct. 4-12 is booming, looking like a two motor coach trip, so there is lots of room yet if you are interested.
Hawaii Nov. 1-8 is also filling up nicely, ‘The trip of a lifetime’.
The luncheon cruise aboard ‘Miss Buffalo’ with a tour of the Botanical Gardens, also a stop at Braymillers Market is our one-day trip for July 29, Tuesday, all are welcome. Cost $84.
