Dragon tennis sweeps

CORRY – The Dragons swept Corry, 5-0, on Thursday in their region opener.

Winning top singles for the Dragons was Nate Sandberg, 6-1, 6-0, over Josh Schrecengost.

Warren’s foreign exchange student from France, Ben Auzou, had little difficulty in beating Corry’s German exchange student Freddie Steffen by a 6-0, 6-1 count. Sean McGuinness completed the Dragon singles sweep with a neat 6-0, 6-0 win over Nolan Pike.

Warren’s top doubles duo of Quinn Boger and Tristan Boger defeated Tess Martin and Belle Chaisonboonpon by a 6-0, 6-0 score. Completing the 5-0 scoring, second doubles was forfeited to the Dragons as Corry could not field a seventh player.

Bryce Bauer and Noah Colvin won an 8-0 pro-set with the Corry pair of Angelie Arrora with Tess Martin. Also winning an exhibition were the pairs of Steffen Blair with Dylan Hansen. Eric Cecco and Max Pierson picked-up an exhibition win as well.

The Dragons are now 5-0 on the season, and 1-0 in the region. The Dragons will host the 5th Annual Doubles Invitational at 10 a.m. Saturday at Betts Courts in Warren. Coming in to play will be doubles pairs from Harbor Creek, Olean, N.Y., and one pair from Elk County Catholic. Warren pairs will compete in every one of the five divisions of play.
