Memorial scholarship offered

Community Foundation of Warren County has announced the establishment of a new scholarship honoring the memory of Dr. Al B. Cecchini, a former resident of Warren and graduate of Warren Area High School who died unexpectedly in 2013. The scholarship has been initiated by his mother, Babette Cecchini, in his memory.

Applicants must be graduating seniors from Warren Area High School with a B average or better, active in school and community activities, as was Dr. Cecchini, and of good moral character. There are no family income or course study restrictions. The scholarship may be renewed annually for an additional three years if a B average is maintained.

Scholarship applications are available on the foundation website or at the WAHS guidance office. Anyone who would like to contribute to the scholarship fund may do so through the Community Foundation of Warren County, P.O. 691, Warren, PA 16365.

According to Mrs. Cecchini, the “scholarship would honor young people who exhibit the traits (her son) exhibited through his life and reflect the type of man he was. This is reflected in the words of the plaque in the Jamestown YMCA: ‘Here is a man loved by so many whose heartfelt deeds and love for mankind will continue to live and grow’.”
