Crash. Warren-based state police responded to a one-vehicle crash at 10:20 p.m. March 25. According to police, Rosann Wheeler, 63, Saint Marys, was traveling west on Route 6 and lost control of her 2013 GMC Terrain, which traveled off the north side of the roadway and down an embankment. The vehicle hit a wire fence and continued traveling west where the front of the vehicle hit a tree. Police said Wheeler, who sustained minor injuries, charged with unsafe speed.
Criminal mischief. Conewango Township police said between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on April 1, in the Monro Muffler parking lot, North Warren, someone broke the passenger side rearview mirror off a 1999 Pontiac Grand AM owned by Joanna Mennetti, Sugar Grove. Anyone with information is asked to contact the township police.
Crash. Warren-based state police said on March 26 at 12:03 pm. Jeanna Winslow, 32, Warren, was eastbound on Hatch Run Road when Nykki Ekas, 23, Warren, made a left turn in her 2013 Dodge Dart from the intersection at Conewango Avenue, directly into the path of Winslow’s vehicle. Police said Winslow collided with Ekas head-on, causing Ekas’ vehicle to spin approximately 180 degrees, coming to a stop facing west in the eastbound lane of Hatch Run Road. Upon impact, Winslow’s vehicle completed a 360-degree spin before leaving the westbound shoulder of Hatch Run Road, coming to a stop in a ditch. Police said Winslow and Ekas sustained moderate injuries as a result of the crash. Warren City EMS, EmergyCare and Glade volunteer firefighters assisted at the scene.
Crash. Warren-based state police said on March 25 at 4 a.m. Christina Potter, 37, Warren, was traveling west on Chapman Dam Road, four miles west of Farnsworth Road and lost control of her 2006 Pontiac G6 while negotiating a left curve. Potter’s vehicle traveled off the roadway and traveled 108 feet along the north berm. Police said Potter attempted to regain control, causing her vehicle to travel 74 feet across the roadway then traveling 60 feet over the south embankment striking a tree. Police said Potter’s vehicle then traveled six feet and hit a second tree with its right side rear. Police said Potter was charged with driving vehicle at safe speed.
Simple trespass. Warren-based state police said between 7 a.m. March 17 and 7 a.m. March 19 Frank Hunter, 71, Warren, entered the property of Daniel Page, 50, Tiona, while his residence was under the care of a third party. Police said upon his arrival home, Page was informed that Hunter had been on his property without his permission. Police said Hunter was informed by Page not to come onto the property previously. Police said charges of simple trespass were filed against Hunter through District Justice Laura Bauer’s office.
Underage consumption of alcohol. Warren-based state police said on March 29 at 12:55 a.m. two Sheffield females, ages 17 and 15, were found to have consumed alcohol when a security check of the business in the Sears parking lot, Route 6, discovered several individuals standing in the parking lot around a parked car.
Theft by deception. Warren-based state police said on March 28 at 9:08 a.m. Bonnie Lou Curry, 49, Pittsfield, attempted to sell her laptop online. Police said Curry shipped her laptop expecting payment after shipping, but failed to receive payment.
Pine Grove Twp.
Charged. Warren-based state police said on Oct. 25, 2013 Adam James Mintzer, 27, Warren, made false statements when he filled out both state and federal paperwork when attempting to buy a handgun at Tall Tales Sporting Goods Store. Police Mintzer was denied the handgun purchase via the “PICS” check. Police said charges of unsworn falsification to authorities and sale or transfer of firearms were filed against Mintzer at District Justice Laura Bauer’s office.
Hit and run. Warren-based police said on March 23 at 12:05 p.m. Nadine Jewell, 44, Russell, was stopped at the red light at the intersection of Route 6 and W. Main St. Police said Shawn O’Grady, 27, Warren, failed to stop and rear-ended Jewell’s vehicle. Police said O’Grady and Jewell both pulled to the side of the roadway to exchange information, but O’Grady failed to exchange information and fled the scene eastbound on Route 6. Police said O’Grady and his vehicle were located at his residence a short time later. Police said O’Grady is being charged with hit and run and several other traffic violations. There were no injuries.
