Marano 100-miler

Andrew Marano, son of Kim and Maria Marano of Warren and a graduate of Warren Area High School, finished second in a 100-mile marathon in Moab, Utah, recently. The course was finished by only two of seven competitors due to wind and blowing sand in the high dessert. Marano, who lives in Flagstaff, Ariz., with his wife and two daughters, Ella and Drew, finished the race – his first 100-mile ultra-marathon finish – in 29 hours.

This event was part of the “24 Hours of Utah” event, in which other runners race various distance (50K, 100K, 24-hour races, relay teams, and 100 miles being the longest of the events). Marano was supported by his pacer team of his wife, Liz Feroz Marano and a friend, Tammy Bigler, who ran with him the second 50 miles, including the most challenging part through the night.
