College news

Warren Area High School graduate Hank Morrison went 5-for-12 at the plate with four runs batted in for the Mercyhurst University Lakers in a four-game sweep of Gannon University over the weekend. The Lakers won 4-0, 4-2, 14-4, and 11-1 to improve their overall record to 15-5.

Youngsville High School graduate Cory Craig was stuck with a loss after going two innings on the mound and allowing one earned run on one hit against Slippery Rock on Friday. Craig’s Cal U Vulcans were defeated by a score of 7-6 to fall to 13-9 on the year.

Warren Area High School graduate Tyler Leichtenberger earned the save in Rochester Institute of Technology’s 4-2 win over the University of Rochester on Saturday. Through nine games, Leichtenberger has five appearances with a record of 2-0 and one save.

Youngsville High School graduate and Cal U junior Abel Robinault finished third and qualified for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships with a time of 32:35.14 in the 10,000-meter run at the Fred Hardy Invitational in Richmond, Virginia.

Postponed

Warren’s softball game at Mercyhurst Prep scheduled for Monday has been postponed. A makeup date has not yet been announced.
