Radio control

Two track records fell last Wednesday at Riverside Raceway. Tim DiPenti ran 92 laps in 5:00.61 minutes in the Nostalgia SPEC Brushed Oval class. In the Late Model Brushless Oval class, Garrett Allen topped the previous record by three laps with a nearly flawless run of 98 laps in 5:03.15 minutes.

The Warren boys tennis match at Harbor Creek scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed to 11 a.m. April 21.

The Warren boys tennis match at Elk County Catholic scheduled for Saturday has been rescheduled for 3:30 p.m. April 2.

The Warren softball game at Mercyhurst Prep on Tuesday has been postponed to Friday.

Trap meeting

The Warren County Summer Trap League pre-season meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Sugar Grove trap club. Each team is allowed up to two voting reps.

College news

Youngsville High School graduate Abel Robinault finished fourth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:01.24 for the Cal U Vulcans at the school’s own Early Bird Invitational Outdoor Track Meet. Robinault’s time qualified him for the PSAC Championships to be held later this year.

Youngsville High School graduate Cory Craig allowed one run on eight hits in 8.1 innings of work in his first start of the season on the mound for the Cal U baseball team. Craig fired 113 pitches, striking out five and walking none in a 4-1 Vulcans win.

Warren Area High School graduate Eddie Dorunda is a sophomore pitcher/first baseman for the Jamestown Community College Jayhawks.

In a 4-1 loss to Ann Arundell Community College in Maryland on Sunday, Dorunda pitched two innings, allowing two unearned runs, two hits and striking out two.

In a 9-7 win on Monday over Averett University, in Virginia, Dorunda was 1-for-5 with an RBI single.

Youngsville High School graduate Amber Fox is currently hitting .345 while starting in nine of Pitt-Bradford’s 12 varsity softball games this season. Fox has an on-base percentage of .387 and has scored a team-high seven runs for the Lady Panthers (6-6).
