Paul R. Campbell, 92, formerly of W. Frederick St., Corry, Pa., died on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at the Corry Manor where he had been a resident.
He was born on May 9, 1921 in Clarendon, Pa., a son of the late Clair and Twila Gould Campbell.
Paul was raised and educated in Clarendon and graduated from Warren High School in 1939. Following high school, he attended Coyne Electrical School in Chicago and graduated in 1941. Paul then moved to Corry and began working at Raymond Manufacturing. From March of 1943 until January of 1946, he served in the US Navy during WWII with the Seabees in the Pacific Theater. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Corry and resumed employment at Raymonds working there for 22 years. Paul then started working at Erie Plastics on their opening day, November 5, 1962. He worked there as the Director of Maintenance until his retirement on August 1, 1985, after 23 years of service. He then worked parttime for a few years as an electrical contractor.
Paul was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Corry. He also belonged to VFW Post #264 and American Legion Post #365 both in Corry, and was a longtime member and past board member of the Corry Country Club. Paul was one of the founding members of the Raymond Credit Union (Corry Federal Credit Union). He enjoyed golfing and watching his sons in amateur sports car racing.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Campbell.
Paul is survived by his wife, Jane Perry Campbell, whom he married on February 14, 1946 in Chicago, IL.; three sons, Thomas Campbell and his wife Carol of Saratoga Springs, NY., Larry Campbell and his wife Brenda of Blockville, NY., and Charles Campbell and his wife Sue of Corry, Pa. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 3 stepgrandchildren, 16 greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Saturday at 11 am. Rev. Eric Oliver, pastor of the Evangelical United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry, Pa.
