Dragons win on indoor court

ST. BONAVENTURE – The Warren Dragon Tennis Team perform exceptionally well in Olean on Saturday morning. Playing a match with the Olean Huskies at the Indoor Tennis Facility of St. Bonaventure University, Warren prevailed in two of the three singles matches – Nathan Sandberg at No. 1 and Ben Auzou at No. 2 – and swept all five doubles matches. The format used was an 8-game proset for each match.

“Our kids played well today. Our top two singles players took care of business with solid performances with good competition. Our doubles teams all performed well today,” said Warren coach Jeff Bartsch.

Warren’s lone loss came to Sean McGuinness in the No. 3 singles position. “Sean didn’t put any pressure on his opponent today. He will learn from the experience and will remedy the situation,” said Bartsch.

The doubles teams of Brice Bauer and Noah Colvin, Dylan Hansen and Steffen Blair, Max Gross and Clark Eason, Neil Morrison and Nick Pellegrino, and Simon Smith and Derek Hanlin outscored Olean opponents by a combined score of 40-13 in five wins.

The Harborcreek match set for Tuesday has been postponed due to inclement weather, rescheduled to April 28. On Thursday, the Dragons will host Olean at the Betts Courts.
