A pair of Warren Area High School graduates met on the diamond this weekend as Matt Jaskolka’s Bloomsburg University Huskies took on Hank Morrison’s Mercyhurst University Lakers in Nashville, Tennessee. Mercyhurst walked away with a 4-1 win thanks to a three-run bottom of the eighth in which Morrison connected on a two-RBI triple, breaking a 1-1 tie.

Morrison has started 11 of 12 games thus far for the 8-4 Lakers, hitting .250 with eight runs batted in. Jaskolka is 2-1 on the mound with a 1.08 earned run average and 16 strikeouts for the Huskies, who are now 6-7 on the year.

Jaskolka and Morrison were seniors on the 2012 Warren Area High School team that won the school’s first District 10 Baseball Championship in 35 years.

Youngsville High School graduate Amber Fox has started in six of Pitt-Bradford’s eight softball games this season. Fox is currently first on the team in runs scored (6), third in batting average (.368), third in on base percentage (.429), and fourth in slugging percentage (.368). The Lady Panthers are 5-3 on the year.
