YHS fundraiser

The Youngsville High School baseball team is holding a scrap metal day fund-raiser from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, at the Davis Street Field in Youngsville. Donations of scrap metal (no electronics or tires) are asked to be dropped off in dumpsters that will be there to benefit the baseball team.

College news

Warren Area High School graduate Matt Jaskolka allowed eight runs, but all were unearned, for Bloomsburg University in a 15-7 loss to Tusculum College on Saturday in Greensville, Ten. Jaskolka (2-1) struck out three in 3 2/3 innings.

PIAA postponed

The PIAA second-round basketball playoff games involving District 10 teams were postponed on Wednesday. Most of the schedule shifts to Thursday, but a Slippery Rock doubleheader has been moved to Farrell High School. Here is the new Thursday PIAA schedule involving District 10 teams:

Hoops meeting

The Friends of Warren Basketball will be meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday in Mr. Passmore’s room at the Warren County Career Center. The meeting is open to the public. Parents involved in youth travel basketball teams are encouraged to attend.

Football clinic

A Warren Dragons Football Winter Skills Clinic, for high school players, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. this Saturday at the Warren Area High School gymnasium.

Formation reviews, stretching and pre-game review will be held in the gym; film review, pre-snap recognition, the 3 1/2-yard theory, blocking schemes, Football 101, and “Our Team Philosophy,” will be reviewed in a class room, and; “Winter War Games” held on the WAHS practice field.

Work-out gear and sneakers are required for the gym, and old clothes, shoes/boots/spikes must be worn on the practice field. Players are asked to dress for the weather.
