Hutchinson, wife unhurt in weekend crash

FRANKLIN, Pa. (AP) – State police say a Republican state senator from northwestern Pennsylvania and his wife escaped injury when their vehicle was hit by another driven by a teen driver.

Troopers from the Franklin barracks say 52-year-old Sen. Scott Hutchinson, of Oil City, was southbound on Route 8 in Sandycreek Township on Friday when the teen’s vehicle sideswiped Hutchinson’s sport-utility vehicle about 4:35 p.m.

Police say Hutchinson and his wife, Mary Beth, were both wearing seat belts and weren’t hurt.

Police aren’t releasing the name of the other driver because he’s under 18, but say he’s facing several citations in the crash.

Hutchinson represents the 21st Senate District, which includes Venango County, where the accident occurred, as well as all of Clarion and Forest counties, and parts of Butler and Warren counties.
