HWA workshop set

Hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA) volunteer training will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, at the University of Pitt-Bradford, in Fisher Hall Room 107. Training will include HWA identification and hemlock monitoring techniques to be able to identify infestations. The agend will include introduction and welcome by Andrea Hille, USFS, and Dr. Denise Piechnik; hemlock value and threat by Dale Luthringer, PA DCNR; HWA biology and identification by Tara Spinos and Rick Turcotte, USFS; the “High Allegheny Hemlock Conservation Strategy” overview by Sarah Johnson, TNC; and volunteer survey protocol, also by Johnson.
