On Sunday, Feb. 23, the Allegheny Outdoor Club will ski the trails at Oil Creek State Park. Participants will meet at the park warming hut at 1 p.m. The trails at Oil Creek are now being professionally groomed and there is a $5 fee for skiers using these trails. Auditions for Warren Players production of “Titanic Tragedy and Trial: A Live Radio Play” Readers Theatre, will be held on Monday, Feb. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Feb. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. the Library Room. Roles are available for both males and females age 18 through adult. Show dates will be April 3-5 and April 6. The show is about WBFR Playhouse of the Air, back with this new live 1940s era radio show. Tragedy and Trial in Act I, tells the story through the eyes of the passengers and crew who sailed on her. In Act II, the survivors talk about the disaster in their own words in this adaptation of the 1912 Senate hearings. The re-enacted testimony gives witness to the events surrounding the rush to the lifeboats and rescue of the survivors. For more information, call the Library Theatre at 723-7231.
‘Why Do You Hate Me?’
Warren Area High School alumnus Brent Scarpo, a nationally known transformational speaker, has returned to Warren to present two school assemblies, classroom discussions, a teacher workshop, a parent night presentation and speak at Rotary Club. The topic of his presentations will focus on anti-bullying, entitled “Why Do You Hate Me?”
Scarpo has more than 20 years of experience as an educator, producer, writer, director, and casting director in Hollywood. He has dedicated his life to erasing hate, violence and bullying in the world and specifically in schools. “Why Do You Hate Me?” addresses “the issue of why we hate and/or bully each other, but, even more importantly, it answers the core issue of why do we hate ourselves,” he said. Scarpo was at Warren Area High School Tuesday, will speak at the Rotary Club lunch at noon today and will present a public parent program Thursday at Warren Area High School library at 7 p.m. All parents and interested persons are invited.
To dance Saturday
The Circle Eight Square Dance Club will dance from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, in the auditorium at Warren State Hospital in North Warren. Tom Mohney will be the caller. This will be pie night.
The Slovenian Polka Boosters will dance from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at the Big Trout Inn, Weedville. Bobby Kravos of Cleveland, Ohio, will provide music for all types of dancing. The public is invited. For information, call Paul Leofsky at 563-7516.
Warren General Hospital Rehab Works will be the topic of a program from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at Allegheny Community Center, 42 Clark St., Warren.
Dance Express will have a spaghetti dinner form 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at Grace United Methodist Church. Cost will be $8 for adults and $5 for children younger than 10 and senior citizens. take-outs will be available. The menu will include spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread, beverage and Plaza pie. Tickets are available from studio dancers and will be available at the door.
