BOYS HOOPS: Eagles tripped up by Rocky Grove, 66-56

The Youngsville boys basketball team played “the best game all season,” according to coach Jim Kesterholt, losing 66-56 to Rocky Grove Saturday at Youngsville High School.

“I couldn’t be more proud of my seniors, they played together with five men as a unit,” said Kesterholt, whose Eagles fell to 1-19 overall on senior night.

The seniors and the rest of the team got off to a fast start as they took a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter.

The Eagles were down 34-30 at the half, but they shot back in big ways to secure a one-point lead at the beginning of the fourth.

In the end, Rocky Grove completed more foul shots and 3-pointers to eventually edge out the Eagles and run out the clock before Youngsville could come back.

Jon Uplinger and Collin Lehnen each scored 16 points to lead Youngsville.

“A lot of credit goes to Rocky Grove; they shoot and they’re quick,’ said Kesterholt. “Overall, I think it was a good way to go out.”
