SWIMMING: Warren boys, girls each split in swimming

ERIE – Warren’s boys and girls each split in tri-meets on Monday at Central Tech High School.

Warren’s girls beat Central Tech, but fell to Villa Maria. The boys also beat Central, falling to Prep.

“Overall, a lot of kids got their district times tonight, which was good, and they have Thursday and Monday yet to qualify for districts (Feb. 28-March 1),” said Warren coach Jeff Walters.

In a rout of Central Tech, Christian Olson (200 free), Sean McGuinness (200 IM), Nick Willetts (50 free), Bob McAvoy (100 fly), Bennett Steber (100 free), Keith Ruzich (500 free), Clark Eason (100 back), and John Kylander (100 breast) had first-place finishes for the boys. No one finished first in the loss to Prep.

In the girls meet, first-place finishes for Warren vs. Central Tech included: Lacey Grinnen (200 free and 500 free), Paige McCollough (200 IM), Anna Fitzsimmons (50 free), Mandy Fehlman (100 fly), Savannah Tichenor (100 free), Lilya Renner (100 back) and Anna Falvo (100 breast). There were no first-place finishes against Villa.

Warren’s boys defeated Central Tech, 121-28, and fell to Prep, 135-35. The Lady Dragons defeated Central, 132-23, and lost to Villa, 127-43.
