Wrestlers ranked

Youngsville’s Jaykup Durlin claimed the number one spot in the 220-pound weight class in both District 10 and the Northwest Region according to the latest rankings released by Dan Albaugh. Teammate Jeremy Lyon is fifth at 170 in District 10, and Eisenhower’s Louie Head is fourth at 152 in District 10 and fifth in the Northwest Region.

College news

Youngsville High School graduate Abel Robinault finished sixth overall with a time of eight minutes, 35.41 seconds for the California University Vulcans at the SPIRE Midwest Open 3,000-meter run this weekend in Ohio. Robinault’s finish qualified him for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships to be held later this season.

Warren Area High School graduate Kelsey Nuhfer finished third for Cal U in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 25.14 seconds in the six-team Western Pennsylvania Invitational Swim Meet hosted by the University of Pittsburgh. Nuhfer also placed third as part of Cal’s 200-meter freestyle relay team, finishing in one minute, 40.46 seconds.

Warren Area High School graduate Tyler Fantaskey finished with 11 points and four rebounds to help Pitt-Bradford to a 65-62 men’s basketball win over Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday. The Panthers are now 11-8 overall and 7-4 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.

Warren Area High School graduate Charlie Thomas scored 12 points for Thiel College in a loss to Washington & Jefferson on Saturday.

Winter trap

The Penn York Winter Trap League met at the Kane Fish and Game Club on Sunday with 147 shooters in attendance. Sugar Grove took first with a team score of 331 with Kane just one point behind for a close second.

Bob Faga shot the lone perfect score for the day and was the high vet. Dick Delhunty (46) was the high senior vet and Ralph Challingsworth (49) was the high super senior vet. Cindy Cable (43) was the high lady, Mike Ziegeler (44) was the high sub junior and Michael McDunn (48) was the high junior.

As of Feb. 2, Michael McDunn is at the top of the AA class, Dean Spiridon Sr. is at the top of the A class, Jim Hannon is leading the B class, Paul Keppel is leading the C class, and Dave Davies is leading the D class.

Next week’s shoot is at the Kalbfus Sportsmen’s Club.
