GIRLS HOOPS: Ike downs Lady Eagles in cross-county rematch

The Eisenhower Lady Knights topped county-rival Youngsville in a Region 3 matchup Saturday, defeating the Eagles by a score of 46-36 at Youngsville High School.

The win was a significant turnaround for Ike after the Lady Eagles took the first meeting, 51-30, less than two weeks ago.

“It was a very big win for us,” said Eisenhower coach Mike Logue. “The first quarter we came out and dominated inside. (Kirsten Baran and Holly Chapman) each had six points in the first quarter, so all of our points came from our post players. That really opened things up for our guards against their zone later in the game.”

Baran finished with nine points and 15 rebounds, and Chapman added eight points. Kristen Williams led all scorers with 18 points – including three three-pointers – to go along with four assists, and Danielle Bradish chipped in six assists for the Lady Knights.

Youngsville was led by Kennedy Cratty’s 17-point effort, while Katie Chuzie finished with nine.

With the win, Ike improves to 6-10 overall and 2-7 in Region 3 while the Lady Eagles fall to 7-9 with a 4-4 region mark.

Both teams return to action on Tuesday, with Eisenhower hosting Strong Vincent in a non-region game and Youngsville welcoming Cochranton.
