MICHAEL JAMES FORSLUND
Michael James Forslund, 39, of Youngsville, passed away unexpectedly, of an apparent heart attack Tuesday morning, January 28, 2014 at his residence.
He was born April 19, 1974 in Warren, a son to James and Janet (Ahlquist) Forslund, who survive him, of Patti Lane in Pittsfield. Michael was a 1992 graduate of Youngsville High School, a 1996 graduate of Washington & Jefferson College earning a Bachelor’s degree in biology and also a 1999 graduate of Gannon University, where he earned his Master’s degree in physical therapy. During Mike’s high school career, he excelled in many sports. He was the quarterback for the football team, pitcher and shortstop for the baseball team and was part of the PIAA state quarter qualifying team during his senior year of basketball. Prior to becoming the owner and operator of Results Rehab & Fitness in Warren, he was an active physical therapist throughout Warren County. He was a little league coach and enjoyed sports, a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Yankees.
In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, whom he married on May 20, 2000 in Youngsville, Deanne (Blum) Forslund, a son, Brandon Forslund, at home, a sister, Susan Forslund and her husband, Kelly Bailey of Pittsburgh. Also surviving Michael is an aunt and uncle, John and Jean Ahlquist of Erie, a sisterinlaw, Denise Blum and her companion, Lucas Stec of Pittsfield and his fatherinlaw and motherin law, Denny and Donna Blum of Youngsville.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ted and Lyndell Ahlquist and also his paternal grandparents, Hilmer and Genevieve Forslund.
Friends will be received at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church, 179 Davis St., on Thursday, January 30, from 37 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the church, with the Rev. Nancy Schwanke, pastor of the Interfaith Chapel, officiating. Burial will take place in the Youngsville Cemetery.
The family strongly suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any Northwest Savings Bank for a savings account that has been established for Michael’s son, Brandon.
