James “Jim” C. Perrin, 74 of Plank Rd., Columbus Pa, died Friday January 24, 2014 at UPMC Hamot.
He was born in Pittsfield, PA on August 5, 1939, a son of the late Reeder and Florence Morris Perrin.
Jim was raised and educated in Pittsfield and Youngsville, where he attended Youngsville High School. He was a farmer for the majority of his life. Jim first worked for the Perrin family farm in Pittsfield before working on the Dodd and Nickerson Farms in Columbus, PA until his retirement this past August.
He was a board member of the Brokenstraw Antique Tractor Club and a member of the Pioneer Steam and Gas Engine Society. Jim enjoyed restoring, showing and pulling his antique tractors. He was an avid snowmobiler, and enjoyed bicycling, canoeing, hiking, bowling and walking his two dogs.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a sister Betty Linville, and three brothers; William, Charles and Richard Perrin.
Survivors include his wife Melody S. Hamilton Perrin whom he married July 26, 1984 in Corry, Pa; two daughters Dianna Ross and her husband Harold E. Jr., of Corry and Jessica Perrin of Columbus, PA; one sister, Joyce Lord and her husband Richard of Spring Creek; one brother, John Perrin and his wife April of Pittsfield, Pa. Also by three grandchildren, Heather Stroup, Amanda Hutchings and Brett Ross; four greatgrandchildren, Ryan, Michael and Jason Stroup and Riley Hutchings; also by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 5 p.m., with Greg Barnett officiating.
