Woman’s Club welcomes Higgins as new director

President Judith Champlin welcomed members and guests to the annual Jan. 20 Winter Tea at the Woman’s Club of Warren. Hostesses were members of the needle arts group.

Woman’s Club of Warren welcomed a new club manager, Anne Lundahl Higgins. Higgins grew up in Warren where she graduated from high school, attended travel school and was a travel agent for 25 years. She then became an activities director at the Warren Senior Center for nine years. For the past three years, she has worked at the Allegheny Community Center as an activities director. Anne is married to Jim Higgins who works at Northwest Savings Bank. They have two children, Abbie and Drew, and recently became grandparents.

Champlin announced the donation of a laptop computer from Northwest Savings Bank and reminded members of upcoming activities such as the Woman’s Club of Warren Tag Sale, Usable Discards, April 18-19 and the fashion show and luncheon May 19. These activities help to preserve the club’s gracious Victorian home, a National Historic Landmark, and allows the group to offer the facilities to community organizations and events.

The club welcomes new members. For more information on membership or the rental of club facilities, call 723-5910.

The next meeting will be a luncheon at noon on Feb. 3. Speaker will be Dr. Susan L. Stout, Project Leader, US Forest Service Northern Research Station. Her topic will be the forests around us and the women who work in them.
