Gilbert W. Johnson, 84, of Belleview, FL, formerly of Pittsfield, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Tuscany Hospice House in Summerfield, FL.

He was born October 20, 1929, to the late Clara and Calvin Johnson.

Prior to moving to Florida, he owned and operated Johnson Builders, a construction company. Upon retiring, Gilbert and his 1st wife of 53 years, Elizabeth Johnson, who passed away in 2002, enjoyed building wooden lawn ornaments and selling them at local flea markets in Florida.

He also served in the U.S. Army.

Surviving are his wife Anne Johnson, whom he married June 9, 2005; four children, John Johnson of Citra, FL., Janet (Richard) Hunt of Warren, JoAnn (David) Confer of Chandlers Valley, and Jeff (Teresa) Johnson of Pittsfield; also four stepchildren; 13 grandchildren; 20 greatgrandchildren; 2 greatgreatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and Elizabeth, he was preceded in death by 2 grandsons, and several brothers and sisters.

As per his wishes, he will be cremated and no funeral service will be observed. Memorials may be made to local hospice services.
