Shirley Spargo Paulmier, 93, formally of Tidioute, passed away Saturday January 18, 2013 at the Warren Manor.

She was born September 9, 1920, in Succasunna, N.J., a daughter of the late Norman and Rowena (Hopper) Spargo. Shirley served as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army during WWII as a nurse, earning the Bronze Star. She was a member of the Retired Officer’s Assoc. of North Western Pa., and she enjoyed tennis, gardening and her flowers.

She is survived by a son, David, and daughterlaw, Sally Paulmier and a daughter Cynthia Paulmier, a brother Jere, and sisterinlaw Joanne Spargo, all of Tidioute, 4 grandchildren, Milenka Paulmier, Nicole Paulmier, Laurie Schmidt and Jennifer Sakal, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Paulmier, whom she had married on January 4, 1947 in Parsippany, N.J., and who passed away in 1991, and a brother John Spargo.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 26, at the Presbyterian Church in Tidioute with the Rev. Keith Martin, officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the Tidioute V.F.W. Burial will be in the Vail Cemetery in Parsippany, N.J. at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Warren Co. Veterans Van program Warren, Pa. 16365.
