GIRLS HOOPS: Knights grab 1st region win

Eisenhower pulled away from Maplewood in the fourth quarter on Saturday for a 41-34 Region 3 win over Maplewood at Eisenhower High School.

“We really outplayed this team, but we couldn’t (shoot well) again,” said Eisenhower coach Mike Logue, whose Knights are 5-7 overall and 1-4 now in the region. Maplewood remains winless in the region.

The Lady Knights waited until the fourth quarter, going 7-of-10 at the line, in a 13-8 stanza. Chapman had five of Ike’s 13 fourth quarter points.

Chapman finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds, Kirsten Baran six rebounds, and Danielle Bradish nine steals.

Westinghouse 49, Warren 34

Warren fell to 9-4 overall with a non-region loss in the MLK Classic on Saturday at East High School.

“(Westinghouse) came ready to play. They are healthy and have everybody back,” said Warren coach Lisa Ruhlman. “It definitely wasn’t our best game, but we have some big games coming up, and we’re going to be ready for them.”

Paige Wilson and D.J. Hahn had eight rebounds each, but scoring was down across the board.
