WRESTLING: 6 Eagles in semis; 2 Knights reach semifinals in North East tourney

BURGETTSTOWN – Youngsville has six wrestlers in the semifinal round of the 19-team Burgettstown Tournament after Friday.

Nate Lehman (106) is 1-0, Chester Ciukaj (126) 2-0, and Jeremy Lyon (170), Stone Sivak (182), Austin Spear (195) and Jaykup Durlin (220) all 1-0 and in the semis heading into Saturday.

“The first round we looked pretty good,” said Eagles coach Scott Ishman. “Second round, we still wrestled well, but ran into some tough kids. We’re hoping to wrestle back on Saturday.”

Jimmy Phelps (0-1, 113 pounds), Chandler Flinn (1-1, 120), Tanner Burns (1-1, 132), Aaron Hoover (1-1, 138), Kris Wilcox (1-1, 145), Zach Ishman (1-1, 160), and Austin Slocum (0-1, heavyweight) are in the consolation rounds Saturday.

Ike at North East

NORTH EAST – Louie Head (152) and Levi Stanko (145) are in the semifinals of the 22-team North East Tournament.

Eisenhower teammates Justin Repke, Steven Haner, Tyler Gourley, John Hummel, Alex LaBarr, Seth Brendlinger and Hunter McNutt “all wrestling for third” on Saturday, according to Eisenhower coach Greg Gourley.
