WRESTLING: Eagles take down Seneca
ERIE -Seneca led 18-0 after four matches, and after four forfeit wins, the Eagles won the last five matches on the mat for a 57-18 Region 3 win.
“With the forfeits, you kind of expect to win,” said Youngsville coach Scott Ishman, “but I told the boys I don’t want to beat them with forfeits, I want to win on the mat.
“And the boys came out and did it,” he said.
Jaykup Durlin is coming back to health and had a 6-0 decision at 220 before four straight pins by Austin Slocum, Nathan Lehman, Trevor Phelps and Chandler Flinn ended the match.
It was Phelps’ first varsity win for Youngsville, which is 5-2 in the region. Seneca is 0-7 in Region 3.
Hayden Victor and Tanner Burns wrestled up in losses, and Chester Ciukaj and Aaron Hoover wrestled to close losses by decision.

General McLane 57, Warren 11
EDINBORO – Four forfeits and a couple of injuries didn’t help Warren in a 57-11 Region 4 loss at General McLane on Wednesday.
The Dragons started out winning two close decisions on the mat with Dan Henry coming back at 170 pounds and Cody Gunn at 182 before seven straight McLane wins.
Among those, Warren’s Alex Streich was taken down by Ian Mallory with about 10 seconds left to lose a one-point decision. Warren assistant coach Tony Smead said Streich actually improved over a pin suffered at the hands of Mallory last season. Smead also said Blake Ristau was one takedown away from sending his match into overtime in a 4-2 decision loss to Brandon Koehler at 120.
Warren standout junior D.J. Fehlman – the top-rated 132-pounder in District 10 – earned a 17-2 technical fall win.
“D.J. was in total control; he’s getting better,” said Smead.
General McLane is 3-0 in region with Warren falling to 2-2.
