Recent grads join the ranks of Master Gardeners

Penn State Extension Master Gardeners met Jan. 9 at the Jefferson DeFrees Center in Warren. Final plans were discussed for the Jan. 18 Cabin Fever series being held at the Warren Public Library. For information or registration, visit www.extension.psu.edu/warren/events or call 563-9388.

Warren County Master Gardeners David Winner and Denise Grant, will talk at “Women are Wonderful” February 8 at the Jefferson DeFrees Center in Warren. Winner will present “Small Space Gardening,” and Grant will demonstrate “Lasagna Gardening.” Further information for the “Women are Wonderful” event is available by calling 723-6350.

The final Cabin Fever series will be Feb. 15 at the Warren Library from 1 to 2 p.m. The Topic will be “Cheap Scaping – The Down and Dirty on Green Gardening” by Denise Grant.

The meeting was followed by a small party to recognize the new Master Gardeners who have met their eight hours of advanced training requirements and 50 hours of volunteer time for their first year. Certificates were previously handed out at the Christmas party and the Penn State Extension Master Gardener name tags were presented after the meeting.
