I just read the article on the picture of the Sheffield teacher hitting 31 countries and over 1/2 million likes or shares on Facebook.

While I agree that social media is a great way for pictures to spread, good or bad, this was not a fair test.

She is holding a sign that is ASKING you to like and share the picture whether you know her or not, I doubt that a normal picture that gets shared spreads much more than to family and friends.

They should do another test with the same picture set up without a sign or any caption when it is posted and that will be a realistic example of what happens to a picture.
