HELEN KELLERMAN

Helen Cecelia Kellerman, age 90, formerly of Irvine, died at her daughter’s home in Erie on Thursday, January 9, 2014.

Helen was born in Warren on April 27, 1923, the daughter of the late Charles and Evelyn Zuerl. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husbands Robert Kellerman (2002) and Virgil (Jim) Swanson (1953), her brother Chuck Zuerl (1967) and her stepson Donald (1959).

She is survived by her daughters Charlene Kellerman of Erie, Marilyn Swanson of London Ontario; her son Robert “Bob” Kellerman and his wife Sue of Erie; two granddaughters, Patricia Graff and her husband Kevin of Erie and Barbara KellermanSmith of Gainesville FL; greatgrandson Jacob Robert Graff of Erie; nieces Ingrid Fitzgerald of Youngsville, PA and Karin Wills of Gainesville, FL; close family friend Lisa Locke of Erie and her fabulous Irvine neighbors Dave and Kathy Lang and family, Carl, Linda and Tressa Hornstrom as well as many Irvine and Erie friends.

Helen retired from the Warren County School District where she was a cafeteria manager at Irvine and Market Street Elementary Schools. She was also a past Postmistress at Irvine Post Office and had worked at National Forge Company in Irvine after she graduated from Warren High School in 1941.

Helen inherited her feisty, independent and stubborn genes from her mother and passed them on directly to her two daughters. She loved purple, cooking, bird watching, the Fourth of July picnics, the Warren YMCA, Irvine, Pennsylvania hills, and her back porch.

Visiting hours will be observed at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St., Erie, PA 16508, on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 8 p.m.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Great Lakes Hospice and especially Janet and Cathy for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach St., Erie, PA 16501, so others may also receive that loving care.
