Free Throw

Shooting Contest

Youngsville Knights of Columbus Council 13006 will hold a Free Throw Shooting Championship Contest on Saturday, Jan. 18, at Youngsville Elementary Middle School located at Second Street.

Registration will be held from 8:30 to 9 a.m.; hoop shoot will be at 9 a.m. Awards will follow the completion of the contest.

Participants are required to furnish a copy of a birth certificate and parents/guardian will need to sign a release form. Boys’ age groups: 10, 11, 12, 13, 14; girls’ age groups: 10, 11, 12, 13, 14

Winners move on to Warren District level competition Jan. 26 and those winners move on to the Regional level.

A contestant may only participate in one council-level sponsored contest, meaning that one can’t go to Tidioute, and then come to Youngsville to compete again. Ten champions will move on to the district level competition at Warren on Jan. 26.

Blankets for Babies

Program

The residents get together every other Tuesday at the Rouse Suites at 2 p.m. and knit or crochet a blanket for a new baby. Residents Hazel Bull and Violet McAmbley participates in this activity to pass the cold winter months.

Healing Services

St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church will be offering weekly services of prayer for healing each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the church. Worship and prayer will be led by Rev. Larry Scofield and Rev. Sue Scofield together with a team from the church membership.

Anyone,from any denomination or faith background who desires God’s help is welcome. The church is located at 343 E. Main St. in Youngsville.

Christmas Tree Pick-up

Youngsville Borough employees will continue to pick up Christmas tree for the next two Fridays, Jan. 10 and 17.

Jr. Winter Camp at Miracle Mountain Ranch

Jr. Winter Camp at Miracle Mountain Ranch will be held on Jan. 31 – Feb. 2 for ages 8 – 12.

This weekend will include activities such as trail riding, octaball, indoor and outdoor activities, tubing and sled riding (weather permitting). This weekend will give the opportunity to learn from God’s Word and grow in your relationship with Him.

Love INC. CMC

Members to Meet

Due to the extreme cold weather, the CMC meeting is being rescheduled at the Love Inc. Office at Main Street in Youngsville. The staff will contact CMC representatives when meeting will take place.

Don’t forget you still have time to sign -up for Love INC of the Debt Free God’s Way! The ministry will provide budget counseling sessions starting in January. The sessions will run a period of six weeks from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Free Methodist Church, 179 Davis St., Youngsville. Write down the following dates and plan to attend all six sessions: Jan. 14, 21, 28 and Feb. 4, 11, and 18. The cost will be $20 for all six sessions. If you complete all six sessions, you will receive a certificate, praise and a refund.

Fine Art, Vino Venue

and Brew Do scheduled

The all new Fine Art, Vino Venue and Brew Do is scheduled for Saturday, April 19, at the Youngsville Fire Hall from 1 to 6 and hosted by the Revitalization of Youngsville and Youngsville Borough.

This year the plan is to have Fine Art demonstrations, an amateur wine and brew contest with ribbons and cash prizes, finger foods to match with sipping/sampling, live music, four to five wineries and two or three breweries, and a few event related vendors.
